
Ezkrima Philippines proudly celebrated the success of veteran fencers Beverly Gay Alarcon and Rodolfo “Jun” Alarcon Jr. at the 1st Tokyo International Fencing Competition, held at the Keio Arena Tokyo in Chofu, Japan.
Beverly Gay Alarcon shone brightest as she captured the gold medal in the Vet-50 Women’s Foil category. In the pool round, she pulled off a thrilling comeback against Kumi Sakaizawa of Yokohama Fencers. Trailing 0-4, Alarcon rallied with determination to secure a stunning 5-4 win.
In the championship bout, she once again faced Sakaizawa. Locked in a 7-7 tie, Alarcon delivered three straight touches to clinch a 10-7 victory and claim the gold medal for the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Rodolfo “Jun” Alarcon Jr. secured a bronze medal in the Vet-50 Men’s Sabre category. His campaign began strongly with a 5-2 win over Kazunori Nakao of Nexus Fencing Club, followed by a 5-3 victory against Haroumi Hanada of Kodaira Fencing Club.
These results propelled him into the semi-finals, where he finished with a third-place podium finish, adding a bronze medal to the Philippines’ tally.

The double podium finish of Beverly and Rodolfo Alarcon underscored Ezkrima Philippines’ dedication to excellence in international fencing. Their victories exemplify skill, resilience, and the fighting spirit of Filipino athletes.
