The FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2025 will see two familiar names take on ambassador roles as 2012 NBA champion Ronny Turiaf and three-time EuroLeague winner Pero Antic join the tournament in Singapore from September 18 to 21.

The two basketball veterans will attend the four-day event live, where six teams from Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa will compete for global supremacy.

Turiaf brings NBA and international pedigree

Turiaf, who played more than 500 NBA games with multiple teams including the Lakers, Warriors, Knicks, Clippers, Timberwolves, and Wizards, won an NBA championship in 2012 with the Miami Heat. The French big man also represented his country in the Olympics, the FIBA Basketball World Cup, and EuroBasket.

“It is a great honor to be a part of this event as the Ambassador,” Turiaf said, adding that he looks forward to seeing teams from Africa, Australia, and Asia showcase their rapid progress on the international stage.

Antic highlights underdog spirit

Antic, a former Atlanta Hawks forward, won three EuroLeague titles in his decorated career. He also led North Macedonia to a historic EuroBasket 2011 semifinal run, one of the tournament’s biggest surprises.

Having narrowly missed the chance to compete in the Intercontinental Cup during his playing days, Antic said he is eager to witness new underdog stories in Singapore. “It’s always fun to see different basketball cultures and philosophies facing off on the same court,” he shared.

The tournament will feature six clubs:

  • Group A: Alahli SC (BAL champions), Unicaja (BCL Europe winners), Utsunomiya Brex (BCL Asia winners)

  • Group B: Flamengo (BCL Americas winners), Illawarra Hawks (NBL Australia winners), NBA G League United (select team)

Group winners advance to the final on September 21, while the second-placed teams battle for third and the remaining teams fight for fifth. Defending champion Unicaja will look to retain its crown after last year’s victory over NBA G League United.
