Krizan Faith Collado and Carlos Baylon Jr. will still have a shot at the podium after advancing to the bronze medal matches in the wushu sanda competition of the 2025 World Games at the Hi-Tech Zone Sports Centre Gymnasium in Chengdu, China.
Collado was the first to fall in the semifinals, bowing 0-2 to India’s Namrata Batra in the women’s 52kg division. The loss sets up a bronze medal bout against Vietnam’s Thi Phuong Nga Ngo on Tuesday, August 12, at 7 p.m. Ngo also fell short in her semifinal match, losing 0-2 to China’s Mengyue Chen. “I need more international exposure to better prepare myself,” Collado said, noting that this is only her second overseas competition.

Baylon aims to bounce back
In the men’s 56kg category, Baylon was overwhelmed by hometown favorite Sishuo Tang, losing via point difference with the fight stopped 41 seconds before the end of the first round. He will face Islam Karimov of Kazakhstan at 7:30 p.m. for the bronze.
