Makati FC Girls 13 crushed the San Francisco Seals of the United States, 6-0, in the final to rule the 2025 Gothia World Youth Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Saturday. July 19.

Led by a brilliant four-goal effort from Nafeeza Ayasha Nori, Makati FC displayed flawless teamwork and technical prowess to close out another undefeated campaign. This win adds another jewel to the crown of the Philippines’ most decorated youth football club.

Back-to-back champions with perfect records

The core of this Girls 13 squad had previously gone undefeated in 2024 when they clinched the Girls 12 division. This year, they repeated the feat with an 8-0 record, extending their dominance at the 2025 Gothia Cup.

“I think we won because we worked as a team. We played really well,” said Nori, who completed a second-half hat-trick after scoring once in the first half.

Joining her on the scoresheet in the opening half were Chayada Sawangarom and Ariana Gementiza, giving Makati FC a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime.

Legacy, pride, and continued excellence

“It feels incredible! Winning Gothia Cup for the second time is such an honor especially since this tournament brings together some of the best teams from around the world,” said Gementiza. “Playing in the SKF Arena for the first time made our team more hyped up because of the cheers and support from our fellow Filipinos.”

Gementiza also pointed out the added pressure of defending their title. “All the teams this year were watching us. That pressure made us more hyped up and gave us more motivation.”

The team’s dominant 6-0 semifinal win over Sweden’s Boo FF further proved their superiority.

The 2025 edition marked Makati FC’s 40th year of participation in the world’s largest youth football tournament. Nori expressed her hope to return, saying, “I hope I get to play next year as well – and perform even better.”

In the Boys 14 division, Makati FC’s team exited in the Round of 32 following a 1-2 loss to Latvia’s JDFS Alberts 2, despite an unbeaten group stage run.

Founded in 1976 by football pioneer Tomas Lozano, Makati FC has been a cornerstone of Philippine youth football, producing top-tier talent for both domestic and international competition.
