The FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Philippines 2025 is an opportunity for the country to demonstrate its standing in global sports. This was emphasized by William Vincent “Vinny” Araneta Marcos, co-chairperson of the local organizing committee, during the “Spike For A Cause” fundraiser held in Intramuros.
Marcos called the hosting a rare privilege, especially as it involves one of the nation’s most popular sports. He thanked the volleyball community and stakeholders for their unwavering support and excitement for the event.

Leaders and supporters show unity for Philippine volleyball
The fundraising dinner and fashion show, organized by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, drew high-profile guests including Senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Pia Cayetano, and Mark Villar. DOST Secretary Renato Solidum also joined the festivities alongside fashion luminaries who presented their designs for the cause.
The men’s national team Alas Pilipinas was recognized at the event as they prepare to face elite global squads. Joining the celebration were Rebisco president Geronimo Kamus Jr. and Honda executive Hiroaki Nakamura, whose companies were honored for supporting the tournament.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano highlighted how hosting major events builds national pride, unity, and discipline. He described the championship as a tool for community building that aligns with the values of teamwork and sacrifice.
Countdown to global volleyball tournament begins
Philippine National Volleyball Federation and AVC president Ramon “Tats” Suzara gave credit to First Lady Marcos for backing the world event. With only 75 days to go, Suzara encouraged everyone to rally behind Alas Pilipinas and the competition.
He said the tournament offers a chance to showcase Filipino talent and hospitality on a global stage. “Every match that Alas Pilipinas plays is a fight for each Filipino, for a Bagong Pilipinas,” Suzara declared.
The championship takes place from September 12 to 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and SM Mall of Asia Arena. It will feature 32 top volleyball nations, with the Philippines looking to make its mark in front of the world.
