Three-time UAAP Women’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player Mhicaela Belen leads a packed pool of 60 applicants for the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft. The hopefuls will be evaluated during the PVL Draft Combine on May 30–31 at Paco Arena before the official draft on June 8 at Novotel Manila in Araneta City.
Capital1 holds the coveted first overall pick in this year’s draft, followed by Galeries Tower, Farm Fresh, and NXLED rounding out the top four. The rest of the draft order includes ZUS Coffee, Cignal, Choco Mucho, Chery Tiggo, PLDT, Akari, Petro Gazz, and Creamline in that order.
UAAP and NCAA standouts dominate draft class
Belen is joined by fellow National University stars Erin Pangilinan and Sheena Toring in a draft class teeming with collegiate firepower. Other UAAP prospects include Adamson’s May Ann Nuique and Ayesha Juegos, Ateneo’s Alexis Miner and Lyann De Guzman, and La Salle’s Alleiah Malaluan, Jessa Ordiales, Baby Jyne Soreno, and Julyana Tolentino.
FEU’s Chenie Tagaod, Jean Asis, and Ann Monares also filed, alongside UST’s Pia Abbu and Renee Penafiel, UE’s Riza Nogales, and UP’s Nica Celis. Two highly anticipated Filipino-American setters, Alohi Robins-Hardy and Tia Andaya, headline the international additions, with Robins-Hardy standing out as the tallest player at 6-foot-1.
Fil-foreign talent and trailblazers add depth to draft pool
NCAA’s Mycah Go, the Season 97 MVP from College of Saint Benilde, leads the Grand Old League hopefuls. Notable NCAA applicants include Arellano’s Kristine Adante and Cherry Mae Cuenca, Letran’s Angelique Ledesma, EAC’s Jhan Pauline Fortuno, JRU’s Maliey Amante, Lyceum’s Zonxi Jane Dahab, San Beda’s Jan Gregorio, and San Sebastian’s Von Dimaculangan.
The draft also features five Filipino-Canadian aspirants—Yveian Orpiano, Reinali Calisin, Clara Serrano, Divine Cortez, and Mary Ann Rioflorido—bringing overseas pedigree to the mix. The youngest candidate is Angela Jackson, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter who turns 21 in June, while the eldest is 40-year-old Rose Joy Pinuela from Olivarez College.
Applicants must still pass qualifying stages and complete documentation, making this list provisional as the PVL prepares for one of its most competitive rookie classes yet.
