Gilas Pilipinas U16 Men flexed their might with a resounding 101-37 win over Singapore to stay unbeaten in the 2025 FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers Monday night. The Filipinos suffocated Singapore on defense, limiting them to single-digit scoring in three quarters to cement their third straight blowout victory.

Gab Delos Reyes came off the bench to deliver a monster all-around performance, registering seven points, 13 rebounds, six assists, a steal, and seven blocks in just 22 minutes. His +51 efficiency rating underscored his impact, earning him Best Player of the Game honors.

Balanced attack powers Gilas to victory
Gilas had six players in double figures, with Everaigne Cruz leading the way with 14 points including two momentum-shifting triples. Justin Hallare followed with 13, while Ethan Tan-Chi, Andwele Cabanero, and Rayver Restificar all added 11 apiece in a clinical offensive display.

Birthday celebrant Travis Pascul nearly notched a triple-double with 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, showcasing the team’s unselfishness and depth. Head coach LA Tenorio praised his team’s defense-first mindset, emphasizing that stopping opponents was just as important as scoring.

Gilas defense sets tone for dominant win
Singapore had a fiery start, even drawing a technical foul after an emotional and-one celebration from Fred Leow. But Gilas responded with a 20-0 scoring blitz, breaking the game wide open with their signature press and transition play.

Tenorio said they were prepared for Singapore’s 2-3 zone, which had disrupted Thailand earlier in the tournament. Gilas adjusted with better ball movement and shot selection, finishing with a 47% field goal clip and 36 fast break points generated by active hands and quick rotations.

Jolo Pascual was rested while CP Miranda saw limited action due to knee discomfort, as Tenorio carefully managed player workloads ahead of bigger games. Gilas faces fellow unbeaten squad Indonesia on May 28 and wraps up group play against Malaysia on May 29.
