The win snapped Ginebra’s two-game skid and ended Rain or Shine’s four-game winning streak. The Gin Kings looked like a team that finally had all its pieces back.

The 29-year-old American winger shot 10-of-16 from the field and added 4 blocks and 1 steal. He replaced Riley Grigsby as Ginebra’s import and looked right at home in coach Tim Cone’s system.

The 6-foot-7 Murphy is a former rebounding leader at Minnesota, and he showed off that skill on the glass. His clean night stood out in a game in which Ginebra poured in 129 points.

RJ Abarrientos led all scorers with 34 points and dished out 9 assists. His output, together with Murphy’s, powered the offense in Ginebra’s one-sided win.

Ginebra vs. Rain or Shine: PBA Group B Standings and Quarterfinal Race

Ginebra raced to a 40-19 lead after the first quarter and stretched the margin to 33 points, 106-75, late in the third. A Group B matchup that was expected to be tight turned into a one-sided game.

The win avenged a 110-99 loss to Rain or Shine in their first meeting. It dropped the Elasto Painters to 4-3, behind Group B leader Magnolia (5-3).

Ginebra improved to 3-4 and is tied with Blackwater for fourth place, the last quarterfinal berth. Its three remaining games are against Magnolia, Phoenix and Blackwater.
