The United States continued its dominant run in the Volleyball Nations League Pasig City leg by cruising past Czechia, 25-17, 25-12, 25-16, on Thursday, June 18, at the PhilSports Arena.
Powered by a suffocating defensive effort at the net and another balanced offensive display, the Americans improved to 5-1 overall while remaining unbeaten through two matches in the Philippine leg of the FIVB’s premier annual international competition.

USA Dominates at the Net
The Americans dictated the pace from the opening set and never allowed Czechia to settle into an offensive rhythm. Led by Chiaka Ogbogu, the United States piled up 12 blocks, with the veteran middle blocker accounting for six of them.
The defensive dominance helped the USA establish a commanding 40-27 advantage in attack points, keeping the Czech hitters under constant pressure throughout the one-sided encounter.
Jordan Thompson once again spearheaded the American offense with 15 points, collecting 14 attacks and one block. Ogbogu added 11 points, while Logan Eggleston also finished with 11 as the United States secured its second consecutive straight-set victory in Pasig City.
The Americans have yet to surrender a set since arriving in the Philippines, further strengthening their bid for a place in the VNL Finals.
USA Eyes Italy Showdown
Czechia struggled to generate consistent offense against the United States’ disciplined defense. Magdalena Jehlarova paced the Czech side with nine points, while Ela Koulisiani and Monika Brancuska chipped in seven points apiece.
No Czech player managed to reach double figures as the team slipped to its third defeat in six matches and second consecutive loss in the Pasig City leg.
Czechia will attempt to end its losing streak when it faces crowd favorite Japan on Friday.
Meanwhile, the United States will enjoy a rest day before taking on world No. 1 and defending champion Italy in what promises to be one of the marquee matches of the tournament on Saturday.
