Strong Sanya campaign boosts confidence for Cebu 2028
Team Philippines concluded its Sanya campaign in fifth place overall with three gold, four silver, and two bronze medals, an improvement from its previous Asian Beach Games output in 2016. The performance was highlighted by strong showings across jiu-jitsu, athletics, windsurfing, and team events.
Tolentino pointed to the country’s beach sports strength as a key advantage heading into 2028, noting that the Philippines’ natural coastline provides an ideal training and competition environment. He also credited the support of the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission for the delegation’s improved showing.

The country’s three gold medals came from jiu-jitsu athletes Annie Ramirez and Alexandria Luz Enriquez, along with high jumper Leonard Grospe. Additional podium finishes were delivered by athletes across multiple disciplines, including the Gilas Pilipinas women’s team, which secured a silver medal.
Silver medals also came from windsurfing, athletics relay, and jiu-jitsu, while bronze finishes were recorded in sprint and combat events. The results reflected a balanced campaign that showcased both emerging and established Filipino beach sports athletes.
