Jang’s rise in Korean golf includes a strong 2024 campaign where he topped the Order of Merit and earned Player of the Year honors. That breakthrough season helped him earn international opportunities and elevated his profile on larger stages.

He has also come close at this event before, finishing tied fourth in 2024 and equal eighth as an amateur in 2023. Those near-misses remain a motivating factor as he chases his first Maekyung Open title.
