Barangay Ginebra stayed on track in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup, overpowering Terrafirma, 111-103, behind a blistering shooting performance Saturday night at the Ynares Center in Montalban.
The Gin Kings stretched their winning streak to three games, improving to 5-2 and joining Meralco and TNT in the crowded third to fifth spots behind Rain or Shine and NLEX. On the other side, Terrafirma’s struggles continued as the Dyip absorbed their fifth straight loss after a strong 3-0 start.

Ginebra’s outside shooting proved decisive, as the team knocked down 18 three-pointers along with a conversion from the four-point line to keep Terrafirma at bay.
Brownlee leads Ginebra’s outside assault
Justin Brownlee spearheaded the long-range barrage, connecting on five of his six attempts from beyond the arc while finishing with a game-high 28 points. He also contributed nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals in an all-around effort.
Stephen Holt added 17 points, drilling four triples, while RJ Abarrientos matched that output with 17 markers, including three three-pointers and a four-point shot. Scottie Thompson and Jeremiah Gray also chipped in from deep to sustain Ginebra’s offensive rhythm.
“It was a team effort,” Brownlee said. “We shot the ball well tonight, we moved the ball well, we had a lot of guys that stepped up and made some big plays for us.”
The Gin Kings’ ability to share the ball and find open shooters allowed them to maintain control throughout the contest.
Defense sparks second-half separation
Despite their hot shooting early, Ginebra held only a slim lead at halftime before tightening up on defense in the third quarter. The shift in focus quickly turned the game in their favor.
A decisive 10-0 run helped stretch a six-point advantage into a double-digit cushion, as Ginebra outscored Terrafirma, 35-21, in the third period to build a commanding 91-71 lead.
“I thought we shot the ball really well in the first half but when you shoot the ball that well you should have a bigger lead than we had and that’s because we weren’t really paying attention to the little details,” said coach Tim Cone.
“And I thought in the third quarter we came out and really locked in to the details and that keyed our defense, which in effect, keyed our offense and allowed us to stretch out the lead,” he added.
Terrafirma continues slide despite Ahanmisi effort
Terrafirma showed flashes of resistance but struggled to keep pace with Ginebra’s consistent offense. The Dyip’s inability to contain the Gin Kings’ perimeter shooting ultimately proved costly.
Jerrick Ahanmisi led Terrafirma with 27 points, highlighted by three four-pointers and three triples, while import Mubashar Ali added a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Despite those contributions, the Dyip could not overcome Ginebra’s balanced attack and fell deeper into a losing skid that has now reached five games.
