Criss Cross continued its dominant run with a commanding 25-12, 25-14, 25-13 sweep of AEP-Cabstars to stretch its winning streak to eight in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference on Wednesday, March 18, at the Filoil Playtime Centre. The King Crunchers dictated the pace from the opening set and never allowed their opponents to settle into the match.

The victory kept Criss Cross unbeaten heading into the round-robin semifinals while halting the Cabstars’ own two-game surge. AEP-Cabstars slipped to a 3-4 record as they struggled to match the league leaders’ intensity and execution.

Criss Cross imposes dominance early

Jude Garcia led the way with 12 points, including four service aces, as the King Crunchers executed another clinical performance. His all-around play highlighted the team’s sharp focus and consistency throughout the contest.

Garcia credited the collective effort behind their unblemished run, emphasizing the sacrifices made by players, coaches, and management. The team’s cohesion and discipline were evident as they controlled every phase of the match.

Criss Cross dominated at the net with a 16-2 advantage in blocks while also leading in attacks, 41-26. Their service game proved just as effective, producing a 5-0 edge in aces to further widen the gap.

Balanced attack keeps streak alive

Noel Kampton also scored 12 points built on eight attacks, three blocks, and an ace, providing steady support to Garcia. The duo anchored a well-balanced offense that overwhelmed the Cabstars’ defense.

Alche Gupiteo contributed nine points along with nine excellent receptions, while Kim Malabunga and Poy Colinares added nine and seven points, respectively. Setter Adrian Villados orchestrated the offense with 16 excellent sets and chipped in four points.
