The Philippine Golf Championship presented by the Philippine Sports Commission officially opens the Asian Tour season, teeing off from February 5-8 at Wack Wack Golf & Country Club. The event, formerly known as the Philippine President’s Trophy, has received elevated backing from the PSC, securing its place as a key international tournament in the country.
Leading the charge is Miguel Tabuena, fresh from a stellar 2025 season, who will represent the Philippines and aim to set the tone for the year. Alongside him, an impressive lineup of international stars promises a highly competitive event, attracting fans and media attention alike.

International stars and elite competition
Joining Tabuena are some of the top names in Asian golf, including American John Catlin, 2024 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion, Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai and Sadom Kaewkanjana, Hong Kong number one Taichi Kho, and Chinese-Taipei’s Lee Chieh-po. Former Asian Tour number ones Sihwan Kim and Jazz Janewattananond also join the field, alongside Germany’s Dominic Foos.
The tournament’s depth is further reinforced by Qualifying School graduates and last year’s Asian Development Tour Order of Merit champion Tawit Polthai from Thailand, as well as Lin Yuxin from China. With nearly all 35 School graduates participating, the field blends rising stars with seasoned champions, creating a compelling start to the Asian Tour season.
BingoPlus and sports tourism impact
BingoPlus steps in as an Official Sponsor, marking another milestone in their growing golf portfolio. Rafael Jasper Vicencio, President of AB Leisure Exponent Inc., highlighted that the partnership aims to bridge opportunities for aspiring local athletes and boost Philippine sports tourism.
PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio emphasized the significance of hosting world-class sporting events: “These tournaments make the country proud, inspire athletes, and showcase our culture to the world. Golf plays an integral part in this strategy, and we are excited to collaborate with the National Golf Association of the Philippines.”
Tabuena, who narrowly missed a LIV Golf League spot last year, has a chance to build on his recent success. His victory at the International Series Philippines helped him finish third on both the Asian Tour Merit list and the International Series Rankings. With the Philippine Golf Championship starting on home soil, expectations are high for another memorable performance.
