Mirra Andreeva showed just how quickly momentum can swing in elite tennis on Saturday, Jan. 17, as she powered past Victoria Mboko to win the Adelaide International final. The world No. 8 dropped the opening three games before taking full control of the match.
Once settled, the 18-year-old Russian dominated, stringing together nine straight games and 12 of the final 13 to seal a 6-3, 6-1 victory in just over an hour.
The result delivered Andreeva her fourth WTA Tour singles championship and her first title at the WTA 500 level. It also extended her impressive start to the 2026 season on the Australian hard courts.

Fast finish flips the final
Mboko entered the match in strong form after a week of decisive wins, including a quarterfinal upset of defending champion Madison Keys. She capitalized early, but struggled to contain Andreeva’s depth and consistency as the match progressed.
Andreeva broke serve repeatedly and controlled rallies from both wings, finishing with a positive winner-to-error ratio and limiting Mboko’s opportunities to dictate play.
Trophy run boosts rankings and confidence
The Adelaide triumph adds to a growing collection that already includes multiple WTA titles in both singles and doubles. The victory is also set to lift Andreeva to No. 7 in the PIF WTA Rankings, her highest position to date.
Mboko suffered her first defeat in a WTA final, but still leaves Adelaide with a career-best ranking and valuable momentum heading into the Australian Open.
