Atletico Madrid confirmed Thursday that winger Giuliano Simeone has extended his contract through June 2030. The 23-year-old Argentine has impressed with his pace, work rate, and consistency since returning from a loan at Deportivo Alaves in summer 2024. His performances have quickly made him a key player for the first team.

Since his return, Giuliano Simeone has made 77 first-team appearances for Atletico Madrid, scoring eight goals and logging 2,069 minutes in all competitions this season. His contributions on both wings, combined with his defensive work rate, demonstrate why the club moved to secure his long-term future.

Rising through challenges and proving his worth

Giuliano Simeone began his journey at Atletico Madrid in 2019, scoring 29 goals in 51 appearances for the B team before a productive loan spell at Zaragoza. His first top-flight season with Alaves was disrupted by a broken leg in pre-season, but he rebounded to establish himself in Atletico’s first team.

Despite early skepticism due to family ties — his father Diego Simeone is Atletico’s head coach — Giuliano Simeone quickly won over critics with committed and high-energy performances. His consistency and versatility have made him a player to watch in La Liga, combining attacking flair with tactical discipline.

Giuliano Simeone has also represented Argentina on the international stage, earning nine caps for the senior national team and competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. These experiences have enhanced his development and prepared him for leadership roles within Atletico Madrid’s squad.

Looking ahead with Atletico Madrid

With the new contract, Giuliano Simeone is set to remain a cornerstone of Atletico Madrid’s first team for years to come. Fans can expect him to continue providing pace, creativity, and clinical finishing on the wings while contributing to the team’s tactical shape and intensity.

As Atletico Madrid targets domestic and European success, Giuliano Simeone’s long-term presence ensures continuity in attack and a foundation for future growth. Analysts and supporters alike now anticipate a central role for Simeone in both La Liga campaigns and continental competitions. [Xinhua]
