Tubino’s leadership shines

Veteran Royse Tubino was central to the victory, recording a rare triple-double with 20 points, 11 excellent digs, and 10 receptions. Assigned a starting role for the finale, she kept the team composed during tight stretches and inspired her teammates with both skill and poise.

“Sabi ni coach, nothing to lose… kaya ginawa lang namin ‘yung part namin. Masaya kaming naglaro at nagtulong-tulong,” Tubino said, crediting her teammates for their collective effort.

Smith delivers memorable farewell

Import Marlee Smith capped her final PVL appearance with the match-winning hit, finishing with 18 points. Her performance symbolized the Flying Titans’ competitive spirit and left fans with a lasting impression. “I will miss the fans – and the food,” Smith added, reflecting on her time with the team.

Choco Mucho concluded the conference with a 3-5 record, ranking ninth pending other match results. Akari dropped to provisional seventh with a 4-4 slate, highlighting the unpredictability of the closing rounds.

Statistically, the match was tightly contested. Choco Mucho narrowly trailed Akari in attacks (56-57) and aces (3-4) but led in blocks (9-8) and capitalized on 28 unforced errors by the Chargers. Akari’s Annie Michem led her team with 30 points, supported by Eli Soyud’s 17, while middle blockers Fifi Sharma and Ced Domingo added seven each. Grethcel Soltones, however, had an uncharacteristically quiet outing with a single point.

Ultimately, the Flying Titans’ final win was a statement of pride and professionalism. Despite elimination, they demonstrated their potential and set the tone for a promising return next season. With players like Tubino leading by example, Choco Mucho leaves the conference with lessons, confidence, and optimism for the future.
