Hung Chien-yao clung to a narrow lead at the US$400,000 Taiwan Glass Taifong Open after a thrilling third round that saw Ekpharit Wu produce a hole-in-one and an eagle. Wu’s late charge cut Hung’s advantage to just one stroke, setting the stage for a high-stakes final round.

Hung holds lead despite Wu’s charge
At the par-72 Taifong Golf Club, Hung, 33, shot a two-under-par 70 to reach 16-under for the tournament. Wu, starting the day six shots behind, fired a 65 highlighted by a hole-in-one on the eighth hole and an eagle on the 17th. Sweden’s Charlie Lindh (67) is in solo third at 11-under, while Thailand’s Sarut Vongchaisit (69) holds fourth at nine-under. All four are seeking their first Asian Tour victory.
Hung, who has maintained his Asian Tour membership for 12 years, is currently ranked No. 110 in the Order of Merit. He said he focused on staying positive during the round, adding, “I hung in there today and concentrated on my game. It’s just me against the course. Hopefully, luck will be on my side tomorrow.”
Wu’s spectacular play shifts momentum
Wu’s impressive round came mostly on the back nine, where his second career hole-in-one and near-albatross eagle thrilled spectators. “I felt nervous at first, but then everything clicked. Even my bogies didn’t affect me—I just focused on the next shot,” Wu said.
Lindh and Vongchaisit also put together strong rounds, staying within reach of the leaders. With Saturday, November 16, marking the third day of competition, the final round promises a tense showdown among the top contenders in the 18th leg of the 2025 Asian Tour.
