Cignal shook off its sting from a tough rivalry defeat and stormed back into the win column after sweeping PGJC-Navy, 25-19, 25-14, 25-21, in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference on Wednesday, November 5, at the Paco Arena.

The defending champions showed urgency and control throughout the one-hour, 16-minute match. With the victory, Cignal improved to 3-1 and secured solo second place behind unbeaten Criss Cross in the season-ending tournament.

Head coach Dexter Clamor said the team’s emotions from the Criss Cross loss fueled the performance. He reminded his players to turn frustration into motivation and respond with discipline and energy.

Cignal leans on balance and defense

Despite the dominant result, Clamor acknowledged gaps in execution, noting the need to polish their system and stay sharp as the season progresses. Cignal rolled out a new starting lineup and utilized a balanced scoring approach to pull away from the Sealions.

The squad capitalized on 27 PGJC-Navy errors while spreading its offense across multiple contributors. Jay Rack De La Noche led the way with 10 points on attacks, while Jared Schnake impressed in his first starting role with six points and 14 excellent receptions.

JP Bugaoan and Lloyd Josafat chipped in six points each, while Steven Rotter and Louie Ramirez added five apiece as the Super Spikers strengthened their campaign.

PGJC-Navy skid continues

PGJC-Navy slid to its fourth straight defeat, though the Sealions found encouragement in the return to form of Joeven Dela Vega. The opposite hitter tallied a game-high 13 points, marking his strongest showing since recovering from a lung illness.
