Dominic Foos captured the SJM Macao Open title today, becoming the first German to triumph on the Asian Tour since Bernhard Langer’s 1996 victory at the Alfred Dunhill Masters in Hong Kong. Foos edged out Chinese-Taipei’s Wang Wei-hsuan on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff at the par-five 18th of Macau Golf & Country Club.
Both golfers finished the regulation rounds tied at 17 under par. Foos, who began the final day six shots behind overnight leader Sarit Suwannarut of Thailand, posted a seven-under 63, while Wang carded an impressive 62. China’s Wenyi Ding finished solo third with a 67, and Sarit slipped to fourth after a 73.

Foos seals victory under pressure
Foos clinched the win with a 10-foot birdie putt after Wang missed his own attempt for par. “I just wanted to play shot by shot,” Foos said. “As I walked up 18, I realized I had to make birdie, and I’m glad I did.”
The 28-year-old German, who had previously competed mainly on Europe’s Challenge Tour, now earns a two-year exemption on the Asian Tour. This victory also improves his standing from 62nd to 15th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, easing concerns about retaining his tour card for next year.
Foos credited his family, friends, and mentor Mr. Kramski for their unwavering support during difficult times.

Wang Wei-hsuan continues strong form
Wang, 26, has shown consistent performance on the Asian Tour this season, finishing second in the Yeangder TPC and third in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters. At home, he topped the Taiwan PGA Order of Merit with three wins and a runner-up finish. “I felt pretty relaxed and free with my golf after last month’s results,” Wang said.
Both players birdied the first playoff hole, setting up the decisive second hole. Foos nearly holed a bunker shot before tapping in a 10-footer, while Wang missed his chance, leaving the door open for Foos to secure the title.
