Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjana ended a three-year wait for an Asian Tour victory by claiming the 2025 Kolon Korea Open at the challenging Dunes Course of La Vie Est Belle Golf Club. Sadom overcame fellow Thai star Poom Saksansin in a gripping final-round duel to secure the title and a spot at The Open.
Sadom carded a steady one-under-par 70 to finish at seven under overall, two shots clear of Poom, who closed with a 73 after leading the tournament heading into Sunday. The triumph pushes Sadom to the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit, ahead of Carlos Ortiz and Ollie Schniederjans.
Victory Secures Open Berth and Ends Three-Year Title Drought
The 2025 Kolon Korea Open was part of The Open Qualifying Series, meaning Sadom’s win also earns him a ticket to Royal Portrush this July. He last played in The Open in 2022 at St. Andrews, finishing tied for 11th—the best result ever by a Thai golfer in a Major.
This victory is Sadom’s first since the 2022 Singapore Open and marks his third overall Asian Tour title. His composed final round included crucial birdies on holes 3, 7, and 12, helping him outlast Poom, who faltered with dropped shots on 14 and 15.
Poom Saksansin Shines Despite Late Collapse and Personal Loss
While Poom missed out on the title, his performance was extraordinary, especially on a long course that didn’t favor his shorter hitting style. He impressed with brilliant scrambling and surgical putting to remain in contention until the final holes.
Tragically, after completing his round, Poom received the heartbreaking news of his grandmother’s passing. His grace in the aftermath added perspective to his runner-up finish.
South Korea’s Songgyu Yoo finished third after a solid 72, while Taichi Kho of Hong Kong fired a stunning 64—the lowest round of the week—to tie for fourth alongside Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent and rising Korean amateur Minsu Kim.
