Bolick explodes as NLEX fends off Ginebra in thrilling PBA duel

The NLEX Road Warriors weathered a furious Barangay Ginebra comeback and escaped with an 89-86 victory in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Robert Bolick turned in a gutsy performance, shrugging off a bruised quadricep to score 28 points—including clutch shots in the final stretch—to anchor NLEX’s fourth consecutive win.

“Stephen Holt really shot the lights out and got them back into the game. It’s good that Berto carried us through. He stepped up big time,” said NLEX coach Jong Uichico.

Bolick’s heroics were complemented by Xyrus Torres, who nailed the go-ahead three-pointer that gave the Road Warriors an 87-86 lead. Torres ended with 11 points, while Brandon Ramirez added 11 before exiting with a suspected dislocated jaw.

Kevin Alas also chipped in 10 markers for a balanced NLEX effort.

Ginebra stormed back from a 17-point deficit behind Stephen Holt, who exploded for 18 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Scottie Thompson had 20, while Jamie Malonzo added 11 but missed a crucial triple that could’ve flipped the outcome late in the game.

The Road Warriors improved to 4-1, while Ginebra slipped to 2-2 in the tightly contested tournament.
