Tour of Luzon returns with 117 cyclists in ‘The Great Revival’ Edition

A total of 117 elite cyclists from 17 teams, including four international squads, will take part in the highly anticipated “The Great Revival” edition of the Tour of Luzon, kicking off April 24 in Paoay, Ilocos Norte.

Dubbed one of the Philippines’ most historic cycling events, the Tour of Luzon was first staged in 1956. After multiple cancellations and format changes over the decades, including its most recent run in 2019 as Le Tour de Filipinas, the race is roaring back thanks to the backing of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), DuckWorld PH, and Cignal TV.

“The legendary Tour of Luzon is back,” said DuckWorld PH president Patrick Gregorio. “It’s a revival not just of the race, but of a summer sports tradition deeply rooted in Filipino cycling.”

Running across eight grueling stages and seven provinces, the race covers a total of 1,074.90 kilometers, culminating in a dramatic uphill finish at Camp John Hay in Baguio—a stage that includes the infamous Kennon Road, known for its torturous climbs and sharp gradients exceeding 20%.
