With Xyrus Torres delivering a career game and Robert Bolick orchestrating the offense, NLEX roared back from a shaky start in the 2025 PBA Philippine Cup with a convincing 109-95 win over Rain or Shine on Saturday, April 12, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
After a loss to San Miguel in their conference opener, the Road Warriors made a statement. Torres erupted for 28 points on a near-perfect 11-of-12 shooting clip, including three triples, while Bolick produced a near triple-double with 23 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds.
Rain or Shine Starts Strong, But NLEX Takes Over
Rain or Shine looked ready for a winning debut, building an 11-point lead early. But NLEX quickly turned the tide, ending the first quarter ahead 32-25 and never looking back.

By halftime, NLEX had a 60-50 cushion. They outscored the Elasto Painters again in the third, extending their advantage to 86-73. The Road Warriors held firm in the final frame to seal their first win of the conference.
Balanced Scoring and Team Effort
Anthony Semerad added 18 points and seven rebounds, while Javee Mocon chipped in 12 points and 10 boards. NLEX also got contributions from Ben Adamos, Matt Nieto, and Don Trollano as they played solid two-way basketball.
Coach Frankie Lim’s squad shot an efficient 55.4 percent from the field, connecting on 31 of 56 attempts, while limiting their turnovers and controlling the tempo.
Elasto Painters Falter From Deep
Rain or Shine fired 36 three-point attempts but connected on just 13. They also managed just 40.7 percent overall shooting, struggling to respond to NLEX’s defensive schemes and fast-paced attack.
Caelan Tiongson led Rain or Shine with 24 points, while Leonard Santillan, Jhonard Clarito, Gian Mamuyac, and Adrian Nocum chipped in double-digit performances, mostly off the bench.
