SBP partners with Strong Group Athletics to support Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 teams

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has officially partnered with Strong Group Athletics (SGA) to provide crucial support for Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 and U23 3×3 teams as they prepare for a packed 2025 competition schedule.

Sealed last week, the partnership ensures that the women’s 3×3 squads will receive the necessary resources to train and compete both locally and internationally throughout the year.

SBP Executive Director Erika Dy expressed gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing its significance in furthering the development of women’s basketball in the country.

“We’re happy for the support of Strong Group Athletics,” Dy said. “They’ve been an ally in promoting and supporting women’s sports, and we’re looking forward to providing our Filipina ballers the training and competition they need to reach their full potential.”

SGA President Jacob Lao echoed the same commitment, stating that the partnership aligns with the brand’s goal of elevating Philippine basketball across all levels.

“At Strong Group Athletics, we believe in the power of collaboration to elevate Philippine basketball,” Lao said. “This is a step towards fostering growth—developing young talent, supporting our national teams, and strengthening the foundation of the sport we love.”

He also emphasized the ultimate goal of helping women’s basketball reach greater heights, with an eye on Olympic qualification.

Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 continues to shine

The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 team is coming off back-to-back podium finishes in recent tournaments.

  • At the Manila Hustle 3×3 Season 3, the team of Mikka Cacho, Camille Clarin, Jhazmin Joson, and Hazelle Yam secured a bronze medal.
  • Shortly after, Kaye Pingol stepped in for Yam as the squad repeated its third-place finish in Singapore for the Jumpshot 3×3 Season 2 tournament.

Upcoming tournaments for 2025

The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 team is set for a busy schedule in the coming months, highlighted by major international competitions:

  • Got Game 3×3 (March, Manila)
  • FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup (April, Singapore)
  • Southeast Asian Games (end of 2025) – where the team will aim to reclaim the gold medal.

Meanwhile, the Gilas Pilipinas U23 3×3 squad will compete in the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2025 – U23 Asia-Pacific this May.

With SBP and Strong Group Athletics joining forces, the future looks bright for Philippine women’s 3×3 basketball as the teams continue to chase success on the international stage.
