Nxled dominates Farm Fresh to close out PVL All-Filipino campaign

Nxled closed its Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference campaign on a high note, cruising past Farm Fresh in a dominant 25-17, 25-17, 25-18 victory at Philsports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, March 13.

Determined to bounce back from a loss to Chery Tiggo last week, the Chameleons overpowered the Foxies from start to finish, displaying superior firepower and execution to secure a 1-1 record in Pool B of the Play-In tournament.

Nxled takes advantage of Farm Fresh’s shorthanded lineup

Nxled quickly imposed its will, capitalizing on the absence of Farm Fresh’s top hitter, Trisha Tubu, who was sidelined due to back issues. Chiara Permentilla, Krich Macaslang, Lycha Ebon, Lucille Almonte, and EJ Laure spearheaded the attack, while Rachel Jorvina anchored the defense with 20 excellent digs, earning Player of the Game honors.

“We just played very relaxed and leaned on each other all throughout,” Jorvina said. “We wanted to finish our campaign on a high note.”

Permentilla and Macaslang led Nxled with nine points each, while Laure and Almonte contributed eight points apiece. Ebon added seven markers as the Chameleons overwhelmed the Foxies in attacks, 47-25, en route to their swift one-hour, 27-minute triumph.

Farm Fresh struggles to keep up

Farm Fresh showed some resistance in the third set, briefly taking an 11-10 lead following a Rachel Daquis kill block on Ebon. However, Nxled responded with a three-point run, highlighted by a Laure backrow hit, before stretching its lead to 19-14 with a Macaslang running attack.

Despite a late push by Farm Fresh, Laure’s well-placed drop shot put Nxled at match point, and Regina Mangulabnan’s ace sealed the victory.

Pierre Abellana provided a late spark for Farm Fresh, finishing with 10 points despite playing only two sets. Daquis added nine markers, while Caitlyn Viray and Aprylle Tagsip chipped in five points each.

Nxled’s balanced attack leads the way

Beyond her offensive contributions, Permentilla also stood out defensively, tallying 11 excellent digs, while Almonte complemented Shiela Pineda’s 11 excellent receptions with six of her own, solidifying Nxled’s all-around dominance.

The Chameleons showcased their strength from the opening set, racing to an early 7-1 lead and maintaining control with a 20-16 advantage. Farm Fresh attempted to rally, but Nxled closed with a 5-1 run, sealing the set with an Ebon off-the-block hit.

The second set followed a similar script. From a 3-3 tie, Nxled went on a 9-3 run, pulling ahead 16-8 and never looking back. They widened the gap to 20-11 after an Abellana miscue, and Ebon delivered a powerful spike to secure the set.

Nxled’s relentless offense was evident, outgunning Farm Fresh 16-10 in attacks while limiting errors. Their consistent execution ensured they remained in control, leaving no doubt about their superiority throughout the match.

With their campaign now over, the Chameleons head into the offseason with confidence, proving they have the tools to compete at a higher level in the Premier Volleyball League.
