Johan Eliasch, President of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and a newly elected International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member, will take part in a high-profile Q&A session with the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) on February 25, 2025.
This event is part of the “Let’s Talk to the IOC Presidential Candidates” series, which provides a platform for candidates to communicate their vision for the future of the Olympic movement. The session will be exclusive to AIPS members and will be moderated by AIPS President Gianni Merlo.
Johan Eliasch: A Leader in Sports and Sustainability
Eliasch, who became an IOC Member in 2024, has been the President of FIS since 2021. His leadership at one of the largest winter sports federations has given him extensive experience in global sports governance. Under his leadership, FIS oversees 14 disciplines and contributes significantly to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
In his manifesto, Eliasch stated:
“I may not be a veteran of the IOC, but I am no novice. My experience has equipped me with the exact skill sets needed for this role. There can be no better apprenticeship in sports administration than running a major international federation.”
Beyond his contributions to sports, Eliasch is a dedicated environmentalist. He served as the UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Deforestation and Clean Energy and co-founded Cool Earth, a charity focused on rainforest conservation.
