Epic clash begins: National U21 Men’s Volleyball Championship sparks road to FIVB 2025 glory

The countdown to the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship (MWCH) 2025 kicks off with an electrifying start as the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Under-21 National Men’s Volleyball Championship begins today, January 29, 2025, at the iconic Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Eight powerhouse teams are set to showcase their talent in this much-awaited event, with the preliminary matches promising thrilling volleyball action. In Group A, Volleyball Never Stop (VNS) Club will face Silay Volleyball Club (SVC) at 9 a.m., while Zamboanga City squares off against Lingayen at 11:30 a.m. Over in Group B, Umingan Volleyball Club (UVC) takes on Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU) at 2 p.m., followed by the clash between City of Naga-Cebu Volleyball Club (CNV) and University of East (UE) at 4:30 p.m.

Championing Youth Volleyball Talent

PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, also the president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and executive vice president of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), emphasized the critical role of the tournament:

“The Under-21 championship is part and parcel of the national team program that aims to maintain the production line of talents for international competitions.”

The event is powered by major sponsors including Akari, the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee, Meralco, PLDT, Smart, AyalaLand, Nuvali, Mikasa, Senoh, Asics, Rebisco, Cignal, OneSports, OneSports+, and Pilipinas Live.

A Packed Volleyball Calendar

The National U21 Men’s Volleyball Championship is just the beginning of an action-packed journey for Philippine volleyball. Upcoming domestic events include:

  • The National Beach Volleyball Championships in February at the Nuvali Sand Courts in Santa Rosa City.
  • The Second AVC Beach Tour-Nuvali Open in April at the same venue.
  • The FIVB World Beach Pro Tour Futures, which will also be hosted at the Nuvali Sand Courts.

The Philippines Gears Up for MWCH 2025

The Philippines will take center stage in September 2025, hosting the FIVB Men’s World Championship for the first time. Matches will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and SM Mall of Asia Arena, giving fans the opportunity to witness world-class volleyball action.

This national U21 tournament is pivotal in ensuring the country has a steady pipeline of talented players ready to represent the Philippines on the global stage.
