Uihlein shines with 64 to lead International Series Qatar at the halfway mark

Peter Uihlein has taken control at the International Series Qatar with a remarkable 8-under 64, leading by two strokes after two rounds. The American, known for his consistent performances, embraced the windy conditions at Doha Golf Club, which posed a significant challenge to many of the other players.

Uihlein’s round included seven birdies, an eagle on the par-four 16th, and a solitary bogey. He now sits at 12-under for the event, ahead of American Zach Bauchou (10-under) and South African Ian Snyman, who slipped to 3rd after a 70.

Uihlein’s Perfect Conditions for Success

The windy conditions, which made the course tougher than the previous day, seemed to play in Uihlein’s favor.

“When the wind picks up, I enjoy it. It shapes the shots for you, and it brings everybody into my game,” Uihlein said, showing his comfort with the breezy challenge.

Key Contenders and Key Performances

Zach Bauchou, after a steady 68, remains in contention at 10-under. Ian Snyman, after a brilliant 65 on Day 1, posted a 70 to stay in the top 3. Other contenders include Charl Schwartzel, with a 65, and David Puig, both tied for 4th with Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines.

Schwartzel, a former Masters champion, surprised many with an early eagle and five birdies, moving up the leaderboard.

International Series Rankings: Uihlein’s Potential to Win

Uihlein, already with a win in International Series England earlier this year, has his eyes set on the International Series Rankings title. With just one more event remaining, the PIF Saudi International, Uihlein could claim the crown, sitting in 4th place—close enough to top the rankings.

The Race for the Asian Tour Order of Merit

John Catlin maintains his lead at the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit, despite barely making the cut. He remains the player to beat, but Richard T. Lee and Ben Campbell could change the standings with strong finishes.
