Kenneth Daynata Shines in a Crucial Win

Kenneth Daynata led the charge for the Griffins, delivering 18 points, including five kill blocks, and contributing 10 excellent receptions to earn Player of the Game honors. Reflecting on the team’s performance, Daynata acknowledged their struggles but highlighted their growing confidence.

“Tingin ko po nahirapan kami makapag-recover agad since lahat kami bata, pero bumawi naman kami sa third and fourth sets and nakuha namin ‘yung panalo,” said the 23-year-old Daynata.

Team Effort Fuels Victory

The Griffins’ teamwork shone brightest in the fourth set, where they turned a narrow 6-8 deficit into a commanding 20-12 lead through a blistering 14-4 run. Contributions from Daynata, Titus Villacrusis, Roderick Medino, and veteran Benjaylo Labide sealed the game.

Head coach Ralph Ocampo lauded his team’s growth:
“More on teamwork kasi nagpa-practice naman kami, continuous naman ‘yung practice namin. Actually, we’re just expecting to participate kasi nga pinasok namin ‘yung mga bata. Now, we’ve exceeded ‘yung expectations namin.”

A Tough Road Ahead

The Griffins face a challenging path to the semifinals with matches against top teams Cignal HD Spikers and DN Steel FEU Ultras. While the odds are against them, team captain CJ Segui remains hopeful, emphasizing the need for bravery and maturity in their play.

“We’re still young, but we need to be braver and stronger. We’ll make sure to play like mature players and give our best in these final games,” Segui said.

D’Navigators’ Struggles Continue

For the D’Navigators, the loss drops them to a 1-6 record, effectively ending their postseason aspirations. Despite strong performances from Madz Gampong (15 points) and teammates Kyle Villamor, Steven Sta. Maria, and Vince Himzon, their efforts fell short.

The D’Navigators aim to break their slump when they face the Savouge Spin Doctors on Sunday.

Semifinal Hopes on the Line

The VNS Griffins have exceeded expectations in this tournament, showcasing their potential despite their inexperience. Their final two games will test their resolve and could define their future in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference.

Will the Griffins defy the odds and secure a semifinal spot? All eyes will be on them as they battle the league’s best teams in their remaining matches.
