Cignal HD Spikers dominate De La Salle-EcoOil for fourth straight win in Spikers’ Turf Invitational

Veteran-laden Cignal HD Spikers delivered a commanding performance, sweeping the youthful De La Salle-EcoOil, 25-21, 25-12, 25-19, to notch their fourth consecutive win in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference on Friday, November 15, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The win solidified Cignal’s hold on the second spot in the standings with a 5-1 record while also dealing La Salle-EcoOil its first defeat in this season-ending men’s volleyball tournament organized by Sports Vision.

Focused Play and Veteran Leadership

Cignal head coach Dexter Clamor praised his team’s disciplined performance, particularly in the second set, where they committed just four errors.

“I’m very happy lalo na nung second set na ang errors namin ay four lang. I was quite pissed off during the first set kasi we had 10 errors… I’m very happy kasi alam naman natin ang mga bata aggressive yan,” shared Clamor.

Drawing on their collegiate dominance, Clamor reminded his players of their roots.

“During the huddle, I told my players you were the star players in your teams during your collegiate years. It’s not yabang, it’s pride na talented tayong lahat, university ang kalaban na mas bata sa atin, dapat hindi tayo magpapatalo,” he added.

Cignal’s Offensive Surge

Despite La Salle’s resilience in the third set, Cignal’s firepower proved too much. Former Green Archer JM Ronquillo and Louie Ramirez led the offensive onslaught, with middle blocker Lloyd Josafat and outside hitter Wendel Miguel also stepping up in the clutch.

  • Louie Ramirez: 16 points (15-of-24 attacking clip)
  • Lloyd Josafat and Wendel Miguel: 9 points each
  • JM Ronquillo: 8 points
  • JP Bugaoan: 7 points (including four blocks)

For La Salle-EcoOil, Noel Kampton stood out with 12 points and eight excellent receptions, but his efforts were not enough to overcome Cignal’s dominance.
