Historic meeting sets stage for PH Hosting of FIVB 2025 Men’s World Championship

The Philippines officially began preparations for the FIVB 2025 Men’s Volleyball World Championship with its first Inter-Agency Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting. Key government and private organizations met at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex’s Badminton Hall to discuss strategies.

Ramon “Tats” Suzara, president and CEO of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), led the meeting. He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts for the country’s first-ever hosting of the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, set for September 12 to 28, 2025.

Suzara emphasized that this initial inter-agency meeting marks the start of a collaborative journey. “Your meaningful insights are very important in this hosting,” he told participants, underscoring the value of shared expertise.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Richard “Dickie” Bachmann welcomed over 40 representatives from 20 agencies. He stressed the need for comprehensive strategies to ensure a smooth and successful event.

Bachmann added that the PSC has proven its capacity to host international tournaments. He cited the country’s recent successes with other global and continental events.

The LOC is co-chaired by William Vincent Araneta Marcos and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, with Senator Pia Cayetano, PSC’s Bachmann, POC President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, and MVP Group’s Manuel V. Pangilinan also serving as members. Their leadership aims to strengthen the organizational framework for the event.

Representatives from the POC, Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) attended the meeting. Other agencies, including the Department of Tourism and Bureau of Immigration, were also present, showing strong support across sectors.

The FIVB 2025 Championship will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena and the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It is expected to host teams from 30 countries, including the Philippines.
