Eya Laure nailed a backrow kill to give the Tigresses a 2-0 advantage after the Blue Eagles failed to complete a comeback in the second set.

Ahead by just two midway through the third, 14-12, Regina Jurado and Milena Alessandrini connived for a strong 11-2 finishing kick.

“Nakaexecute kami, medyo malinis-linis yung galaw namin. Naovercome namin yung ano, I think wala kaming service error today napakasarap sa pakiramdam na lalabas kami na wala masyadong unforced errors,” said UST coach Kungfu Reyes.
The Golden Tigresses solidified their place at the fourth spot at 4-2 while the Blue Eagles slipped to 1-5, their worst start in the Final Four era.

Jurado shone with 15 points on 12-of-23 attacks and three service aces which she made all in the third frame, while Laure got 10 points, 12 digs, and six excellent receptions.

Cassie Carballo, who tossed 16 excellent sets, also activated middle blockers Imee Hernandez and KC Galdones with nine and seven points, respectively.

Vanie Gandler delivered 13 points for the losing side while Faith Nisperos and Lyann De Guzman also netted 11 points apiece for the Blue Eagles, who committed 25 errors compared to the Golden Tigresses’ 11.

Up next for UST will be the luckless University of the East on Saturday while Ateneo will collide with University of the Philippines on Sunday, Mar. 19.
