Baby Dalupan tried but failed to reunite with some of his top players, Abet Guidaben and Yoyoy Villamin, from the defunct Crispa Redmanizers when he was calling the shots for Great Taste in 1987.
It was on February 1, 1984, when the basketball world was rocked following word that the fabled Crispa Redmanizers were disbanding after 10 seasons in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Toyota import, Andrew Fields, delivered the winning points that night, scoring the last three that shoved the Tamaraws to a 102-100 lead coming from a 99-100 deficit with about seven seconds to go.
Who would have thought that something hanky-panky was going on in local ball when most of us Filipinos were quite apprehensive and living in fear because men in uniform were roaming everywhere in the streets?
