Young Cycling Stars shine in PhilCycling National Championships Criterium Race

Young cyclists from Iloilo, Pangasinan, and Narvacan showcased their dominance in the PhilCycling National Championships for Road, winning gold in the Criterium races held on Monday. The competition, presented by the MVP Sports Foundation and Standard Insurance, gathered over 700 cyclists from across the country.

Iloilo Secures Double Gold in Women’s Youth Categories

Iloilo emerged as a cycling powerhouse as Allaeza Mae Gulmatico and Maria Louisse Crisselle Alejado topped the Women’s Youth 1 and 2 categories, respectively. Gulmatico secured gold in her division, edging out Joanna Mae Armendez, who settled for silver, while Jems Lucas took bronze.

In the Women’s Youth 2 category, Alejado’s victory was complemented by a silver finish from Maritanya Krogg, with Yvaine Osias taking the third spot on the podium.

Pangasinan and Narvacan Join the Winners’ Circle

Pangasinan also celebrated a gold medal win as Jazmine Kaye Vinoya topped the Women’s Junior category in a 20-minute plus three-lap race, outpacing Yvonne Alejado and Eloiza Pajarito, who finished second and third, respectively.

Narvacan’s CJ Cabreros secured the Men’s Youth 1 gold, narrowly defeating fellow Ilocos Sur rider Joelian Abdul Hamid from Banayoyo.

Men’s Youth Criterium Highlights

In the Men’s Youth 1 category, Raven Vidaz claimed gold, followed by Jerick Cabael (silver) and Silmar Khen Silao (bronze). Meanwhile, the Men’s Youth 2 division saw Nheytan Pascua securing the top podium spot, with Nathan Omana and Justine Yu finishing second and third.

More Action to Come in the PhilCycling Championships

The PhilCycling National Championships continue this week with Individual Time Trial (ITT) races in Tuy and Nasugbu, Batangas, followed by the highly anticipated road races. The event, organized by PhilCycling president and POC chief Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, is also supported by Tagaytay City, Excellent Noodles, and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
