Marten Van Riel’s Journey to Singapore
After a stellar 2024 season, Marten Van Riel expressed his excitement for the Singapore race:
“Winning this season’s T100 Triathlon World Tour has been a dream realised for me. I didn’t get to race Singapore earlier this year because I was focused on the Olympics, but I’ve heard it’s an awesome race, so I can’t wait to try it for myself.”
Van Riel’s journey this year has been nothing short of remarkable, competing in the Paris Olympics and clinching three out of four T100 races. His dominant performance culminated in a thrilling victory at the Dubai T100 World Championship Final on November 17, 2024, where he faced tough competition from Germany’s Rico Bogen and Britain’s Alistair Brownlee, a double Olympic champion.
Course Enhancements for 2025
To improve the experience for both participants and spectators, the PTO is planning to incorporate new iconic landmarks into the amateur course. Additionally, course adjustments will be announced soon to minimize the event’s impact on downtown Singapore, thanks to close collaboration with local stakeholders such as Sport Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board.
PTO CEO Sam Renouf shared his thoughts on the event:
“Singapore’s stunning location, iconic backdrops, and challenging racing have made it a favorite among athletes and fans. We’ve worked hard to accommodate the event’s growth while minimizing disruptions to the city.”
