Savouge and EcoOil La Salle battle for semis spot in Spikers’ Turf

The stakes couldn’t be higher as Savouge and EcoOil La Salle collide at 6 p.m. Friday, November 29, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig. With only one semifinal berth left in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference, this penultimate elimination round matchup promises to be a thriller.

Both teams started strong, sweeping their first four games, but recent struggles have left their semifinal hopes hanging by a thread. Savouge, now riding high on a morale-boosting win over the ousted D’Navigators last Sunday, looks to carry that momentum into today’s crucial match. In contrast, the Green Oilers are desperate to snap a three-game losing streak, including setbacks against the HD Spikers, FEU Ultras, and Criss Cross King Crunchers.

The Semifinal Picture

If Savouge secures a win—whether in straight sets or five—it will eliminate La Salle-EcoOil from semifinal contention, regardless of Sunday’s results. However, a victory for the Green Oilers will set up a tense final day of eliminations.

On Sunday, EcoOil La Salle will face the VNS Griffins, while Savouge battles the Criss Cross King Crunchers in games that could determine the league’s last semifinalist.

Savouge head coach Sydney Calderon emphasized the importance of their previous win.
“Napakaimportante ng laban namin sa D’Navigators para maibalik ang kumpiyansa namin bago ang game laban sa La Salle,” Calderon said.

Meanwhile, La Salle’s coach remains hopeful despite their struggles, believing the team can bounce back with a strong performance.

Other Key Matchup: Cignal vs. Navy

In the day’s first game at 4 p.m., PGJC Navy takes on semifinalist Cignal HD Spikers in another critical match. Navy needs a win to bolster its chances, but Cignal—already through to the semis—is expected to bring their A-game to maintain momentum.

Navy captain Greg Dolor highlighted the team’s focus on service reception, calling it the key to staying competitive against Cignal.
“Ang atake normal na yan, ang blocking kaya naman, pero service receive, yan ang pinaka importante,” said Dolor.

Dolor promised fans an all-out effort as Navy fights to keep their postseason hopes alive.
“Ibibigay namin lahat. Kung makakapasok sa elims, mas maganda,” he added.
