Flying Titans Shake Off Slow Start
Choco Mucho looked out of sync early and dropped the first set after trailing by as many as seven points, 12-19. It rallied to 21-23 before Galeries Tower held firm to take the set.
The Flying Titans then swept the next three sets. They won the second by eight points and the third by six, then pulled away in the fourth behind a 7-0 run, sparked by Lorene Toring, that made it 18-9.
Choco Mucho held a 55-48 edge in attacks and a 7-5 edge in blocks. It also gave up just 20 points on its own errors, while the Highrisers committed 32.
Choco Mucho Stays in Semis Hunt
At 3-1, Choco Mucho sits behind unbeaten joint leaders Nxled and Creamline, both 3-0. The win keeps the Flying Titans in the hunt for one of the conference’s four semifinal berths.
Eya Laure had 18 points, nine digs and 11 receptions, while Sisi Rondina-Rosales and Caitlin Viray had 11 points apiece. Toring finished with 10 and Maddie Madayag seven, while Alina Bicar ran the offense with 17 excellent sets.
“Coach (Dante Alinsunurin) just reminded us of our game plan and the strengths of our team,” Catindig said. The loss to Farm Fresh served as extra motivation for the bounce-back.
Choco Mucho had opened with two straight wins before Farm Fresh rallied from a 0-2 set deficit to win the fifth set, 15-13. Galeries Tower, led by Aiza Pontillas’ 11 points, dropped to 0-4.
