Adamson came dangerously close to letting this one slip through its fingers. The Lady Falcons needed every ounce of composure to survive a late scare and keep their perfect record intact.

The Lady Falcons stayed unbeaten by outlasting De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 24-26, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23. The match was played Sunday at Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City.

It marked another chapter in the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge. The win pushed Adamson to four straight victories.

The victory also put the defending champions one win away from a semifinal berth. Their composure down the stretch proved to be the deciding factor.

Adamson Survives a Late Wobble

The fourth set nearly derailed everything. Adamson squandered three match points as Benilde’s defense shut down Frances Mordi‘s attempts to close it out.

Benilde forced a deuce at 24-24. The Blazers briefly grabbed the lead, threatening to steal the set entirely.

Mordi finally broke through when it mattered most. Kamille Dionisio then sealed the win with a kill block.

Head coach JP Yude credited his team’s response under pressure. “Thankful sa Lord and grateful of how the girls responded sa tough times and every time, kung sino man lang ipasok sa court. And that’s all I wanted: that everyone helps the team, that everyone contributes to the team,” he said.

Mordi finished as the game’s top scorer, tallying 23 points on 20 kills, two blocks, and an ace. Lana Barrera stayed steady on both ends of the court.

Barrera added 16 points and eight excellent receptions. Fhei Sagaysay and Ysabella Sapienza kept Adamson’s offense humming from the setter position, combining for 24 excellent sets.

An Unbeaten Clash Looms Next

Adamson’s next test is its biggest yet. The Lady Falcons face fellow unbeaten squad Arellano University on Saturday, September 12, at 10 a.m.

A semifinal berth will be on the line. A win there would lock up Adamson’s spot in the next round and prove the squad can grind out victories even under pressure.

For Benilde, the loss stings after a competitive fight. Mhonniecka Soliven led three Lady Blazers in double figures with 15 points.

Benilde’s 29 team errors ultimately proved too costly, and the Lady Blazers couldn’t overcome their own mistakes down the stretch. They’ll look to regroup against San Beda University in a match set for the same day, September 12, at 12 noon.
