Kazakhstan and Vietnam secured their places in the semifinals of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Volleyball Cup after delivering dominant performances at the Candon City Arena on Thursday, June 11. Both teams remained unbeaten in Pool B, strengthening their position ahead of their upcoming clash for top seeding in the semifinal round.

The matches further highlighted the gap between the leading teams and the rest of the field, as both Kazakhstan and Vietnam controlled their opponents from start to finish. Their consistent performances throughout the group stage ensured early qualification, setting up a high-stakes encounter to determine Pool B leadership.

Unbeaten Runs Continue

Kazakhstan extended their perfect record to four wins in as many matches after producing a commanding straight-sets victory over Lebanon, finishing 25-11, 25-19, 25-14. The team maintained control from the opening set, using strong offensive execution and disciplined defense to suppress Lebanon’s attempts to build momentum.

Their dominance was evident throughout the match, as Kazakhstan dictated the pace and consistently forced errors from their opponents. The result reinforced their status as one of the most stable and balanced teams in the tournament, especially after their previous strong finishes in regional competition.

Vietnam also continued their unbeaten run with a tightly contested win over Iran, securing a 25-19, 25-20, 27-25 result. Although the match featured closer sets, Vietnam managed to maintain composure during critical moments, especially in the final set where pressure was at its highest.

The Vietnamese squad relied on steady attacking and strong late-game execution to close out the match. Their ability to respond under pressure ensured another straight-sets victory, confirming their place in the semifinals alongside Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan previously finished second in Pool play behind the Philippines in last year’s AVC Women’s Nations Cup, which adds context to their current strong campaign in this edition. Lebanon, meanwhile, continued to struggle throughout the tournament, remaining winless despite efforts led by Shantelle Marie Demirjian, who scored 13 points from attacks.

Pool B Battle Set

Kazakhstan and Vietnam are now set to face each other in a decisive Pool B match that will determine the top ranking heading into the semifinals. Both teams enter the contest unbeaten, adding intensity and significance to what is expected to be a competitive showdown.

Kazakhstan’s balanced attack was led by Ekaterina Mikhailova, who finished with 14 points, while Dinara Razakberlina added 10 points to support the team’s overall offensive structure. Their combined effort highlighted the depth of Kazakhstan’s rotation, which has been consistent throughout the tournament.

Iran suffered their third loss in four matches after struggling to match Vietnam’s intensity, particularly in the closing stages of the final set. The defeat effectively ended their chances of advancing further in the tournament, leaving them out of semifinal contention.
