Usman Nurmagomedov will put his undefeated record and lightweight championship on the line when he headlines PFL New York against fellow unbeaten fighter Archie Colgan on July 31 at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, Long Island.
The Professional Fighters League announced the title bout as the main event of its first-ever card at the New York venue. Nurmagomedov enters the contest with a perfect 21-0 record with one no contest, while Colgan arrives carrying an equally spotless 13-0 mark.
The matchup pits one of mixed martial arts’ most dominant champions against a rising contender many believe possesses the credentials to challenge the champion’s reign. The event will air live on ESPN in the United States beginning at 7 p.m. EST, with preliminary bouts available through the ESPN App.

Nurmagomedov seeks another title defense
Usman Nurmagomedov has established himself as one of the premier fighters in the lightweight division and currently holds the distinction of being the PFL’s pound-for-pound No. 1 athlete.
The Dagestani champion has remained unbeaten throughout his professional career, combining elite wrestling, striking and grappling skills to dominate opponents. His performances have helped elevate him into one of the biggest names under the PFL banner.
Standing across from him will be Archie Colgan, an undefeated former NCAA Division I wrestler who has rapidly climbed the rankings. Colgan’s strong wrestling pedigree and well-rounded skill set have made him one of the most intriguing prospects in the promotion.
The challenger enters the title fight ranked third in the lightweight division and is viewed by many as a legitimate threat to Nurmagomedov’s dominance. A victory would instantly elevate Colgan into championship status while ending one of the longest unbeaten runs in the sport.
PFL CEO John Martin described the fight as a clash between an established champion and a challenger capable of creating his own legacy.
Both fighters have yet to taste defeat as professionals, adding further intrigue to a championship showdown that could significantly impact the future of the lightweight division.
Ditcheva returns after injury setbacks
The co-main event will feature the highly anticipated return of Dakota Ditcheva against Denise Kielholtz in a women’s flyweight contest.
Ditcheva remains undefeated at 15-0 and is regarded as one of the promotion’s brightest stars. However, injuries have limited her activity over the past year.
In her most recent fight against Sumiko Inaba, Ditcheva reportedly competed with a broken hand and still emerged victorious. While preparing for a scheduled bout against Kielholtz earlier this year, she suffered another setback after breaking her other hand.
Now fully recovered, Ditcheva will finally face the opponent she was originally set to meet. The British standout owns an impressive finishing rate, with 12 stoppage victories in her professional career.
Kielholtz presents a dangerous challenge due to her extensive striking background. The Dutch fighter is a former Bellator Kickboxing world champion and also possesses a black belt in judo.
The matchup offers Ditcheva an opportunity to reestablish herself as a leading title contender while giving Kielholtz a chance to secure a signature victory against one of the division’s top names.
PFL expands major event schedule
PFL New York is part of a busy stretch for the promotion as it continues to stage events across the United States.
The organization will first visit San Diego on June 27 before heading to Austin on July 18 and Washington, D.C. on July 25. The New York card will conclude the month-long run of major events.
With a world championship bout headlining the card and one of the promotion’s most recognizable female stars returning to action, PFL New York is expected to be one of the organization’s most significant events of the year.
Fans will be watching closely to see whether Nurmagomedov can continue his unbeaten run or if Colgan can produce the biggest upset of his career and capture lightweight gold.
