Travis Smyth delivered a dramatic final-hole eagle to win the International Series Japan by one shot on Sunday at Caledonian Golf Club near Tokyo, completing a sensational late surge to claim the title.
The Australian rolled in a 20-foot putt on the par-five 18th to finish at 15-under-par, edging Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert and Japan’s Ryosuke Kinoshita, who both finished one shot behind in a tense clubhouse finish.

Smyth seals victory with clutch final putt
Smyth began the day two shots off the lead but gradually climbed the leaderboard with early birdies on holes one, two, and six. His momentum built on the back nine as he moved into contention heading into the closing stretch.
Trailing by one with two holes remaining, Smyth birdied 16 before producing the defining moment on 18, holing a 20-footer for eagle to seal victory in regulation play and avoid a playoff.
He closed with a seven-under 64, finishing at 15-under to secure his first International Series title and second Asian Tour victory overall.
Pavit’s surge falls just short in Tokyo
Pavit Tangkamolprasert delivered the round of the week with a stunning 10-birdie 62, recovering strongly after an early bogey on the third hole. His late charge briefly put him in the clubhouse lead at 14-under.
Ryosuke Kinoshita also mounted a challenge with a brilliant 63, but both players were overtaken by Smyth’s late heroics on the final hole.
South Korea’s Hongtaek Kim and Japan’s Shugo Imahira, who shared the lead entering the final round, faded with rounds of 69 and 70 respectively.
Austen Truslow finished fourth after a closing 65 highlighted by a remarkable eagle on the par-four 16th, while Smyth’s win continues his strong form after victories earlier in the season.
