PLDT absorbed early pressure before finding its rhythm and turning the match around against Farm Fresh. The High Speed Hitters dropped the opening set but quickly adjusted, showing composure and discipline to regain control.

The turnaround translated into an 18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 victory, allowing PLDT to secure the first PVL semifinals berth in the All-Filipino Conference at the Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, March 26. The win underscored the team’s ability to respond under pressure and execute when it mattered most.

Kim Dy anchored the comeback with 19 points on an efficient 50 percent attack rate, delivering in crucial stretches while keeping PLDT steady during momentum swings. Her presence on both ends proved vital as the High Speed Hitters began to dictate the pace.

Savi Davison powered the offense with 22 points, including five blocks, while also contributing 11 receptions in a strong all-around performance. Majoy Baron and Alleiah Malaluan added 11 and 10 points, respectively, giving PLDT multiple scoring options.

Momentum turns in crucial third set

The defining moment came in the third set when PLDT trailed 9-12 and risked losing control of the match. Instead of folding, the High Speed Hitters regrouped, tightened their defense and launched a decisive run that flipped the momentum completely.

“Since we split the first two sets, whoever gets the third will have the momentum. We told ourselves we had to get it,” Dy said. The surge not only secured the set but also carried over into the fourth, where PLDT seized early control.

Farm Fresh attempted a late fightback, even saving multiple match points, but PLDT remained composed and executed key plays down the stretch. Davison eventually delivered the finishing blow to seal the one-hour, 48-minute contest.

Balanced effort seals PLDT’s Final Four return

Kim Fajardo orchestrated the offense with precision, tallying 28 excellent sets in a strong showing against Alohi Robins-Hardy. The High Speed Hitters’ improved ball distribution and decision-making played a major role in their turnaround.

PLDT also capitalized on key breaks, including the late absence of Farm Fresh star Trisha Tubu, who still finished with a game-high 25 points. Despite nearly even attack totals, PLDT proved more efficient in crucial moments while taking advantage of errors.

“It’s a great feeling to be back in the semis, and it’s all about hard work. The game was really hard, so kudos also to Farm Fresh – we really had a good game,” Dy said. She quickly added a reminder that the job is not yet finished, saying, “Hindi pa tapos ang laban.”

With the victory, PLDT advances to the PVL semifinals and stays firmly in the hunt for the championship. Farm Fresh, meanwhile, remains alive but must go through the play-in round to keep its Final Four hopes intact.
