Criss Cross continued its dominant run in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference, defeating Savouge Spin Doctors in four sets, 25-21, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19 on Friday, March 13. The victory cemented the King Crunchers’ first semifinal berth at the FilOil Playtime Centre.
The Spin Doctors sparked hope with a third-set win, but Criss Cross quickly regrouped, asserting their superiority in the fourth set to notch their seventh straight victory. The win extended their unbeaten streak and widened the gap between them and Savouge, who now stand second with a 4-2 record.

Josafat and Garcia lead Criss Cross to victory
Middle blocker Lloyd Josafat finished with 19 points, including 10 attacks and nine blocks, emphasizing Criss Cross’ defensive dominance. Four-time league MVP Jude Garcia added 19 points and seven digs, while Alche Gupiteo contributed 14 points and 20-of-28 excellent receptions.
Adrian Villados orchestrated 39 excellent sets and scored a point in the high-paced matchup. Their composure in the final set allowed the King Crunchers to fend off a late rally from Savouge, who were led by Mark Calado with 16 points, JP Bugaoan with 13, and Shawie Caritativo with nine points and 17 excellent receptions.
Savouge falls short but stays competitive
Despite the third-set win, Savouge could not sustain momentum against the balanced attack of Criss Cross. The King Crunchers displayed championship composure, keeping focus on finishing strong and preparing for the remaining preliminary matches.
Criss Cross will face AEP-Cabstars on Wednesday, VNS Griffins on March 20, and 3B Event Masters on March 27 as they close out the preliminaries. Savouge will aim to rebound against 3B at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
