Ivy Lacsina has been named the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week for February 24–28 following a stellar week that revitalized the Akari Chargers’ 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference campaign. The 6-foot-1 spiker from San Fernando, Pampanga, delivered two consecutive 20-point performances that anchored her team’s breakthrough outings and showcased her all-around abilities on both offense and defense.
The former National University standout kicked off her standout week with a 20-point, 10-reception double-double against the Nxled Chameleons last Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre. All of her points came from attacks, demonstrating consistent scoring while providing backcourt stability that helped Akari secure a much-needed victory.

Lacsina continues her dominance
Her strong performance continued on Saturday against the Cignal Super Spikers, where she notched another 20 points built on 16 kills, three blocks, and an ace, alongside 11 excellent receptions. These consistent contributions highlighted her leadership and reliability, earning her recognition over a competitive field of PVL stars, including Cignal’s Erika Santos, Choco Mucho pair Eya Laure and Sisi Rondina, PLDT’s Savi Davison, and Capital1’s Bella Belen and Sydney Niegos.
“Mas kumapit lang ako sa kasama ko talaga, and team effort to eh. Parang ‘yun talaga, ayaw ko masayang yung pinapaguran ng teammates ko ng coaches ko, so wala nang rason para hindi ilaban,” said Lacsina.
Lacsina also emphasized the importance of shared leadership alongside veteran winger Grethcel Soltones. “Sa akin naman po ’yung naging mindset ko talaga, hindi lang bilang ate, kundi bilang leader din. Tapos na kami sa era na si ate Grethcel lang yung ate namin. Gusto namin lahat kami mag-step up. At siyempre, nakakataas din ng confidence ’yung result ng game.”
Recognition for consistency and impact
The Player of the Week award, presented by Pilipinas Live, recognizes Lacsina’s ability to perform under pressure while helping guide the Chargers out of a winless start. Her consistency and poise on both ends of the floor were decisive in making Akari a more competitive squad in the ongoing PVL season.
The 26-year-old Lacsina and the Akari Chargers will look to maintain their form and momentum as they prepare to face the Capital1 Solar Spikers this Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
