Veteran middle blocker Roselle Baliton stayed patient through Galeries Tower’s massive offseason reset, choosing to remain with the franchise during one of its most challenging transitions.
That loyalty paid off in a big way last week, with Baliton delivering the kind of all-around showing that reflected both experience and renewed confidence. Her steady presence at the net and improved offensive timing highlighted her growing comfort within the system.
The performance ultimately earned Baliton the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of February 17 to 21.

Veteran middle blocker embraces leadership role
Baliton produced 16 points built on seven attacks, seven blocks, and two aces, marking her most complete outing yet with the Galeries Tower Highrisers.
More importantly, the showing reinforced the trust the coaching staff placed in her when the team reshaped its roster during the offseason. The veteran has remained one of the stabilizing figures for the Highrisers as they work to establish a stronger identity.
“Sobrang nakakataba ng puso. Kumbaga, ang dami ng pinagdaanan ng team, and kumbaga, start din ‘to ng magkaroon ng winning culture ‘yung team kasi nga for the longest time, maraming napagdaanan ‘yung team,” Baliton said.
“Napatunayan din namin na kung ano ‘yung pinapakita namin sa training, lumalabas din.”
Weekly honor reflects Galeries Tower progress
Baliton emerged as the unanimous choice over other standouts across the league, highlighting how impactful her week had been on both ends of the floor.
Among those she edged for the citation were Jia De Guzman of Creamline Cool Smashers, Bella Belen of Capital1 Solar Spikers, Majoy Baron of PLDT High Speed Hitters, and Trisha Tubu of Farm Fresh Foxies.
For Baliton, the recognition is less about individual numbers and more about validating the work the Highrisers have been putting in behind the scenes. She emphasized that the team’s collective commitment continues to drive their improvement.
“Team effort talaga siya. So, doon namin tinitingnan kung ano talaga yung kayang ibigay ng team na kapag nagtulong-tulong, nagsasabay-sabay na trabaho, lumalabas talaga na kaya naman talaga. Ika nga, bilog ang bola, so ayun, laban lang,” she said.
Galeries Tower hopes the breakthrough week serves as a springboard as it continues its campaign in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
