PFL names Jason Oberlander as chief commercial officer to drive global growth

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has appointed Jason Oberlander as its new Chief Commercial Officer, a move signaling the league’s intent to expand its commercial operations globally. Oberlander brings more than 20 years of experience driving sponsorship, brand partnerships, and revenue growth across top-tier sports and entertainment organizations worldwide.

In his new role, Oberlander will oversee PFL’s global partnerships, managing sponsorship strategies, revenue generation, and partner innovation as the league continues its rapid international expansion. He will report directly to PFL CEO John Martin and help accelerate the league’s commercial footprint across media, live events, and brand platforms.

“Jason Oberlander is one of the most accomplished commercial executives in the sports industry,” said Martin. “His track record building and scaling partnership organizations, combined with his ability to create long-term value for brands, will be pivotal as the PFL grows globally.”

Oberlander’s career spans global sports and entertainment

Oberlander joins PFL after founding and chairing DRVN Sports & Entertainment, an agency focused on developing strategic partnerships for sports, media, and entertainment properties. Prior to that, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at ASM Global, where he established a 50-person commercial partnerships team managing naming rights, enterprise, and multi-venue deals across more than 400 properties worldwide. His work played a key role in ASM Global’s $2.4 billion acquisition by Legends and the integration of its commercial operations.

Earlier, Oberlander spent nearly a decade at IMG and Learfield IMG College as Senior Vice President of National Sales, leading large-scale sales teams and managing a $100 million-plus annual portfolio. He also held senior positions in the NBA League Office in Global Marketing Partnerships, helping secure landmark league-wide deals and driving revenue across the NBA, WNBA, USA Basketball, and NBA G League.

Oberlander began his career in sports and entertainment marketing with Showtime Sports & Events, MTV Networks, and CBS-Viacom, building foundational expertise in media, content, and integrated brand solutions. “I am thrilled to join the PFL and lead their commercial team,” Oberlander said. “The global growth of the sport, coupled with the vision and energy from John and his leadership team, will create incredible opportunities for brands to engage fight fans worldwide.”

Born in Toronto, Oberlander earned a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He resides in Santa Monica, California, with his wife and two daughters. His appointment comes at a time when the PFL is expanding internationally, seeking to scale sponsorship, media, and event revenue while delivering a premium experience to fans around the world.

Oberlander’s arrival underscores PFL’s commitment to strengthening commercial partnerships and maximizing global opportunities. His leadership is expected to influence media deals, brand collaborations, and live event sponsorships, creating long-term value for both the league and its partners. As PFL continues to grow its footprint, Oberlander’s expertise in building scalable commercial organizations positions the league to compete on the world stage.
