The Cignal Super Spikers faced a critical juncture on Tuesday, November 25, at the Ynares Center in Montalban. In a must-win match, they defeated unbeaten Kindai University 25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18, ending the Japanese team’s winning streak and keeping their semifinals hopes alive in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational 2025.

After Monday’s loss to Savouge Spin Doctors, Cignal responded with intensity and focus. The team combined precision, teamwork, and resilience to halt Kindai’s momentum and regain a foothold in the tournament.

Despite the win, Cignal must still navigate remaining matches carefully. Head coach Dexter Clamor reminded his squad that their fate is partly in their hands and partly in fate’s.

Cignal’s defense and key performers shine

Cignal’s strong net defense proved decisive. The Super Spikers recorded 15 blocks, nearly double Kindai University’s total, repeatedly disrupting the Japanese team’s attacks.

Rookie Jay Rack De La Noche led Cignal with 22 points from 19 attacks and three blocks. Jau Umandal added 18 points, nine digs, and nine receptions. JP and Martin Bugaoan combined for seven blocks and 23 points, helping control the net.

Wendel Miguel contributed nine points and eight digs despite a collision that forced him off the court. The team closed the fourth set with a commanding 19-10 lead, finishing the match in one hour and 44 minutes.

Kindai looks to regroup as Cignal advances

Kindai University, which began the conference with wins over ProVolley Academy, Criss Cross, and UST-Gameville, slipped to 3-1 after losing late-game momentum. Aun Ryutaro led the Japanese side with 27 points, including 24 attacks and three blocks.

Kindai now prepares to face undefeated Savouge Aesthetics on Thursday at 5 p.m., while Cignal must sweep winless ProVolley Academy on Thursday at 3 p.m. to keep its championship bid alive.
