Spain and Colombia clash in women’s futsal World Cup Group B showdown

Spain and Colombia will meet in a high-stakes Group B match of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025 at the PhilSports Arena, with kickoff at 8:30 p.m. Both teams are coming off opening victories and aim to secure early momentum toward the knockout rounds.

The Spaniards stunned Thailand, 5-2, in their opener, with Laura Cordoba scoring twice in the 16th and 18th minutes to break a 2-2 deadlock. Colombia also made an impact, blanking Canada 2-0, with goals from Angely Camargo and Nicole Mancilla, while goalkeeper Alisson Olave kept a clean sheet.

La Roja coach Claudia Pons expressed satisfaction with her team’s start. “We’re happy with this start and we hope to carry it over to the next match against Colombia,” she said in Spanish.

Earlier in the day, Thailand and Canada will face off at 6 p.m. in Group B, both seeking a bounceback after opening losses. Meanwhile, host nation Philippines faces Morocco in Group A after both teams dropped their first games, aiming to make history as the first-ever Women’s Futsal World Cup champions.
