Adamson University showed championship composure when it mattered most, turning back a gritty Arellano University side in straight sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22, on Saturday, August 30, at the Paco Arena Sports and Events Center in Manila to remain unbeaten in the 2025 V-League Collegiate Challenge.
The Lady Falcons improved to 4-0 to stay at the top of the standings, with Alas Pilipinas star Shaina Nitura once again spearheading their charge.
Nitura powers Adamson surge
Nitura delivered a game-high 21 points built on 18 attacks, two blocks, and one ace. She also contributed on defense with 10 digs and nine excellent receptions, setting the tone on both ends of the floor.
“First of all, we thank the Lord dito sa four wins namin,” said Adamson head coach JP Yude. “Siguro, nakikita ko lang kung paano mag-work ‘yung mga bata, how they stick together especially during hard times. Especially kanina, lumalamang ‘yung kalaban… pero nao-overcome nila during the game.”
After cruising in the first set, Adamson had to rally in the next two frames as Arellano’s net defense forced them into tighter situations. Kim Rocha came off the bench to provide a spark, scoring three of her points in the decisive third set.
Arellano shows fight but falls short
The Lady Chiefs tallied seven blocks, most of them in the second and third sets, with Sam Tiratira accounting for three. Tiratira also led her squad with 12 points, while Laika Tudlasan added seven markers.
Adamson still found ways to break through thanks to the steady playmaking of Fhei Sagaysay, who tallied 18 excellent sets, and the finishing of Frances Mordi, who chipped in nine points.
Despite the sweep, Arellano made the Lady Falcons earn every point down the stretch.
Adamson now eyes a formal semifinal berth when it faces winless Mapua University (0-4) on Sunday at 10 a.m., with momentum and confidence on their side after a resilient fourth straight win.
The Lady Falcons are proving that they can grind out victories under pressure—and that makes them even more dangerous moving forward.
